Defenders of Gods [DOG]
We will triumph in the face of adversity... accidentally
History
[DOG] was founded by a group of 9 like-minded players fairly soon after the commercial release of GW. Not only were we looking for a steady group to assist in progressing through the GW storyline, we were looking for friends. Over the past two years, the [DOG] ranks have slowly grown to over 50 members as we found other people who held dear our core ideals.
Today, the [DOG] community has grown to encompass members from all corners of the globe. Some of us are elite PvE players, others prefer the fast action of PvP, while still others just like to jump onto Teamspeak and chat. Whatever the situation, DOGs hold two things dear: friends and fun. Aroooo!

Recruitment
[DOG] is always looking for other like-minded adults to share in the fun! If you're interested, and believe that laughing in the face of defeat is better than a victory where everyone involved has become angry and is harboring hurt feelings, you are probably what we're looking for. Drop us a line in our forums, and we'll take it from there!
- Note: [DOG] has an age policy of 21 years or older.
General Information
Defenders of Gods [DOG] is more than just a guild. We are a group of like-minded, mature gamers who enjoy helping and learning from each other. We are primarily a PvE guild, but are constantly honing our skills for the PvP aspects of GW. We have a rather unique philosophy with regard to PvP: DOGs boldly charge into the enemy (while they wonder why we left the flag in our base). DOGs rampage among our foes (while they wonder why we're letting our Guild Lord die).
[DOG] is currently a member of the [SoF] alliance, and are factioned with the Luxons. We have a Guild Hall with all of the support NPCs in place. [DOG] is standardized on TeamSpeak for voice communication, and can support dial-up as well as broadband users.
[DOG] is the proud home of the Defenders of Gods PUPS [PUPS]. This is a [DOG] subguild with alliance membership, open to children of [DOG]'s and the alliance's guildmembers. This subguild fosters a safe adventuring environment for our future DOGs, allowing our children to group up without fear of inapproprate language or behavior from unknown group members.
Most of our members reside in North America but we have over 50 members, who play during the day, after hours and on weekends. We also understand that Real Life(TM) comes before Guild Wars. Many of us have significant others, kids, dogs or puppies that we aren't going to abandon because of the game. We enjoy playing but understand that Real Life(TM) trumps Guild Wars.

The Code of [DOG]
1. Hardly any profanity. None in the chat lobby. We aren't prudes, but we do have families who may overhear. We tend to be careful about such things.
2. No flaming members for stupidity in game. Gentle chiding and a reminder of why your current action may not be the best way to go for this mission and/or team build is about as heated as we get. In theory.
3. We treat PUGs even more politely than our membership. They might be future recruits. And just because someone hasn't done the mission before does not make them an idiot. Exceptions are made for the obviously "in your face" obnoxious toads spamming hate and foul language. They get flamed and tossed.
4. We have agreed to disagree. We have some very heated discussions in the members' forums, as well as in game. At the end of the day we are still DOG family. You will not find a more diverse group of personality types in one outfit that functions this well anywhere else.
5. We like to laugh. A failed mission with lots of laughing is better than a successful one with clenched jaws.
6. We are trying to improve. We have been forever, seems like. Problem is this game has so much content it's tough for a casual guild to master all of the elements of greatness. But we keep trying. We have a nice core of very accomplished players who exhibit the greatest patience with the rest of us.
7. We help each other. It's almost embarassing at times, but when you need an item, materials, money, or help in a mission, people will be falling over themselves to give it to you.
8. Don't do anything that would get you kicked out of GW itself. In other words, abide by the Arenanet TOS.
[DOG] has a formal code of conduct which is signed by all members upon guild induction. The above is a general outline of how [DOGs] are expected to act, both ingame and on any forums we visit when we display our tag or [DOG]-related signature.
